Getting to Know the MCC ISLOs

In this interactive session, students will be introduced to the Middlesex Community College Institutional Student Learning Outcomes and will name and define the ISLOs, match the ISLOs with activities that support each, and discuss which ISLOs are practiced in their classes.

Designing and Delivering Effective PowerPoint Presentations

This workshop presents recent research on effective PowerPoint presentation slide design, discusses how to balance text and visual elements, and illustrates how to revise poorly designed slides. In addition, we will discuss the do’s and don’ts of PowerPoint presentation delivery techniques.

This workshop is designed to help students develop the skills necessary for success in their academic courses. They will learn strategies for note-taking, reading efficiently and studying according to their learning style.

Time Management Workshop

This workshop will help students assess how they spend their time and how to make decisions about organizing their schedules. We will address their daily schedule and discuss how to manage reading assignments, quizzes, papers and exams. In addition, students will learn how to organize and balance their workload to avoid stress during critical periods of the semester.

Learning Styles Workshop

Are you a visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learner? Knowing the difference could save you hours of study time. This workshop will help you learn about your learning style and the best strategies for your study effectiveness. We will also discuss how to tackle assignments in classes that do not teach to your learning style.

Creativity Workshop

Learn practical techniques to stimulate creativity, imagination, and innovative thinking. This workshop will provide students with strategies to recognize and improve their creativity. Strategies include the use of free writing, mind mapping, storytelling, looking at problems from different frames of reference and many more.
