Getting to Know the MCC ISLOs

In this interactive session, students will be introduced to the Middlesex Community College Institutional Student Learning Outcomes and will name and define the ISLOs, match the ISLOs with activities that support each, and discuss which ISLOs are practiced in their classes.

The Five Languages of Appreciation

This workshop will focus on how individuals express appreciation toward others and how they are best appreciated. In the session, students will complete a short questionnaire to determine how they like to be appreciated by family, friends, colleagues and supervisors. Students will name the five appreciation languages and will identify ways to show appreciation.

Designing and Delivering Effective PowerPoint Presentations

This workshop presents recent research on effective PowerPoint presentation slide design, discusses how to balance text and visual elements, and illustrates how to revise poorly designed slides. In addition, we will discuss the do’s and don’ts of PowerPoint presentation delivery techniques.

With advanced planning this workshop can be customized for a specific assignment or learning outcomes.

Reading/Study Skills Workshop

This workshop is designed to help students develop the skills necessary for success in their academic courses. They will learn strategies for note-taking, reading efficiently and studying according to their learning style.

This workshop can be customized to address your specific text book and or the learning resources in your course.

Time Management Workshop

This workshop will help students assess how they spend their time and how to make decisions about organizing their schedules. We will address their daily schedule and discuss how to manage reading assignments, quizzes, papers and exams. In addition, students will learn how to organize and balance their workload to avoid stress during critical periods of the semester.
